A Drivetel, a company acquired in September by the Greengray Group, completed this week the integration of the first sector of the Lisbon Metro's Yellow Line, as part of the mobile coverage modernization project involving the four national operators, with an investment exceeding 5 million euros. This is one of the largest underground installations ever carried out in the country and one of the largest underground network upgrades ever undertaken in Portugal.
Drivetel is a Portuguese company with 27 years of experience in the telecommunications sector, specializing in mobile network coverage solutions and critical infrastructure for complex environments. Developed by Drivetel in consortium with its technology partner NetCeed, this project on the Lisbon Metro's Yellow Line involves a large-scale operation in a highly regulated underground environment, encompassing 8 tunnels, 39 stations and 7 technical rooms.
Drivetel is responsible for all engineering and technical implementation components, consolidating its role as a specialist in telecommunications solutions for critical infrastructures and highly complex environments. The project also includes the installation of over 300 antennas in atriums, docks, and platforms, with more than 12 km of hybrid cable (fiber optics and power) and 10 km of RF cable, making it one of the largest underground installations in the country. Responsible for the engineering and implementation in consortium with NetCeed, Drivetel thus reinforces its strategic position in highly complex projects, demonstrating that it operates according to the most demanding international standards of auditing and compliance, which also underpin its internationalization strategy.
